Pharmacy Assistant (Back up list)
Position status: Back up pool
Location: Ad Dahi Hospital – Ad Dahi District,
Hodeida Governorate
Doctors Without Borders / Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is
an international, humanitarian, non-governmental organization providing
assistance to people in need as a result of natural and man-made disasters,
irrespective of race, religion, ideology or politics.
Main Purpose
Assisting the pharmacy storekeeper in ensuring the proper
general functioning of the central pharmacy and the supply to other field
pharmacies , according to MSF protocols, standards and procedures in order to
keep pharmacy stock above security level
Accountabilities
- Maintaining
the adequacy of storage and hygiene conditions of pharmacy according to
MSF protocols.
- Participating
in physical inventories and organization of stock according to MSF
recommended storage guidelines.
- Participating
in preparing and sending to the different health structure (packaging,
transport…). If working as a dispenser, verify with prescriber in case of
unclear prescription or difference from standard protocols, and that
patients are counseled appropriately regarding their prescribed
treatments.
- Participating
in the reception of supplies
- Ensuring
that no material is taken without authorization and that the security
regulations of the pharmacy are respected.
- Reporting
immediately in case of robbery/damage of medical equipment or medicines.
Taking actions to avoid or prevent the robberies and damages on the
equipment.
- Updating
stock cards and informing the stock manager as soon as an item reaches the
minimum or maximum threshold or is about to expired
MSF Section/Context Specific Accountabilities
- Preparing
and labelling of medication in Dispensary and record the consumption ,
using daily consumption sheet and weekly consumption sheet and ensuring
the adequacy of prescriptions in close collaboration with Medical team
- Ensure
that the patient receive clear instruction for using the drugs and dosage
- Controlling
ITFC dispenser pharmacy limited access to authorized personnel and
ensuring doors and other exits are secured. Immediately informing the line
manager of any problems arising in the course of the work, particularly
with regards to damage, loss, attempted break-ins or theft in the dispanser.
- make
sure that medical prescription contain all legal requirement and signed ,
stamped by prescriber .
- Doing
inventory for dispensary pharmacy before each order and submit dispensary
order on time according to the supply chronogram.
- Ensuring
good storage conditions of all medical items in the pharmacy in accordance
with pharmaceutical standards in order to ensure continuous availability.
- Organise
supply to ITFC 24 hour need.
- Following
up stock levels with regards to alarms thresholds, stock out, expiry dates
and drugs close to expire in the following 6 months.
- Ensuring
that items to be quarantined (on-going quality alerts) or to be placed in
quarantine zone (batch recalls, expired or damaged items) are removed from
dispensary and return to quarantine in central pharmacy .
- Monitoring
temperature in the pharmacy and ensuring cleanliness of pharmacy
dispensary.
- Participate
in the “empty amp control” for controlled items by receiving empty amp
from department.
Requirements
Education
- Pharmacy
Diploma required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Valid
medical license from medical council is essential
Experience: Experience in similar positions
would be an asset
Languages: English and Arabic languages are
essential
